Welcome to New Creation Presbyterian Church’s Community Garden blog. We are a community of 45 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Our mission is to follow Jesus by loving our neighbors near and far, especially the least, the last ,and the left out.
The garden helps us to have a connection to our source of food. We hope to promote environmental justice, grow community and self reliance. The garden is nurtured communally and provides access to gardening to those who otherwise could not have a garden.
We welcome anyone who wishes to participate. We care for the soil and grow clean food by tilling the soil with hand tools to promote growth of beneficial worms and bugs, using organic and natural fertilizer, such as fish emulsion, and eliminating the use of chemical pesticides and herbicides.
We use the principles of lasagna gardening, building each bed by layering, first lime, then newspaper, then compost and mulch. Compost made by the goats and chickens at Goat Lady Dairy provide the foundation of the beds. The soil has proved to be fertile enough to grow several varieties of vegetables and herbs.
Work Days: We will meet each Saturday at the garden to plant and water the garden. We will post our work days soon. Please come and join us for community and fun!!
